The Organization
Maya Traditions Foundation is a nonprofit social enterprise that supports Indigenous Maya women artisans, their families, and communities through Fair Trade and social programs that preserve, promote, and carry forward ancestral culture, primarily backstrap weaving, as part of a larger movement for positive social change in Indigenous communities.
The Challenge
- Develop an engaging video highlighting the client’s sustainable and ethical tours to increase tour reservations.
The Solution
- Collaborated with a local video creator to determine the structure of the video.
- Selected the recording location, video participants, and questions for each speaker.
- Accompanied the video creator to assist with recording footage.
- Supported the video creator with Spanish-to-English captions.
The Result
- The video was not officially promoted due to the arrival of COVID-19, although it accurately portrayed the purpose and benefit of local, women-led tourism.

The Organization

The Challenge
- Create a product catalog on a minimal budget and in a 2-month timeframe, and simplify the buyer ordering process.
The Solution
- Included product outlines with the support of a design volunteer to give product clarity to buyers.
- Implemented a numbering system throughout the catalog to help buyers easily identify textiles and products they want to order.
- Added a textile, product, and color choice section at the end of the catalog for easy ordering.
- Collaborated with the product manager to organize and execute product photoshoots and volunteers.
- Selected product photoshoots to be local, using the opportunity to highlight product origins in Guatemala and make this the theme of the catalog.
Result
- Buyers clearly understood the ordering process, simplifying their wholesale purchases with the client.

- Implemented weekly check-ins to discuss progress, roadblocks, and feedback from the CEO.
- Set deadlines for new iterations with the graphic designer after receiving feedback from the CEO.
- Provided my expertise in the design and color scheme selected by the graphic designer.

- The logo and brand accurately portrayed the identity of the start-up and its vision.
